Overview is seeking a Back End Engineer who is interested in working in a highly agile and dynamic product development environment. This position will support BigBear, LLC, a company.

What you will do

  • You will be working as part of a multi-functional product development team to build, improve, and deploy production web applications.
  • Your work will encompass developing additional capabilities to include scalable data processing and storage, API development, and front end integration. 
  • Works as part of a team on a large-scale production application to perform software development and design, identifying short- and long- term solutions and timeline; reviewing and approving proposed solutions, implementing new architectural patterns; and performing design and code reviews of changes.
  • Troubleshoot production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams when needed; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan performing actions as designated in the plan; and completing online documentation.
  • Participate in all team ceremonies including planning, grooming, product demonstration and team retrospectives.
  • Take ownership of cross team issues and product delivery issues including pro-actively communicate across teams to coordinate activities

What you need to have

  • 3+ years professional/paid experience building software solutions.
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience developing with Python.
  • Demonstrated experience with back-end architecture patterns, such as RESTful webservices, message queues, and publisher/subscriber patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL and database technologies, such as PostgreSQL, AWS Relational Database Service (RDS), Redshift.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, tools, and technologies, including Git, Jenkins, CloudFormation, Terraform.
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud technologies and the ability to use the AWS service APIs, AWS CLI, and SDKs to write applications.
  • Comfortable working with Linux-based operating systems.
  • Solid understanding of HTTP and experience using/building RESTful web services.
  • Experience with NGINX and PKI.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch and/or the complete Elastic Logstash Kibana (ELK) stack.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Clearance: ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance (US Citizenship required)

What we'd like you to have

  • 5+ years professional/paid experience building software solutions.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience developing with Python.
  • Proficiency in developing, deploying, and debugging cloud-based applications using AWS.
  • Ability to use a CI/CD pipeline to deploy applications on AWS.
  • Experience with Django web framework.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following languages: Python, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Experience with GraphDB technology such as Neo4J.
  • Experience working with scalable technologies to include Apache Kafka and Apache Nifi.
  • Experience working with asynchronous code and multithreaded systems.
  • Experience with GraphQL.
  • Clearance: possess an active TS/SCI clearance
