Overview is seeking an experienced and passionate Quality Assurance Tester with manual test execution and a proven understanding of the software development life cycle, particularly Scrum. This individual will work iteratively with the business customer and development team, through all aspects of the development life cycle, including requirements gathering, design, and testing using current testing methodologies and tools. This position will support ProModel Government Solutions, a company.

What you will do

  • Execute all phases of the QA lifecycle, including requirements analysis, test case identification, test plan authoring, test execution, defect tracking, and status reporting.
  • Create test cases and scenarios based on customer requirements and design documentation.
  • Execute tests to verify the software complies with standards and documented requirements.
  • Perform Functional, Regression, Performance, Usability, and User Acceptance testing based on customer requirements.
  • Log and track defects from initial discovery to closure, working with developers to assess their severity and impact.
  • Contribute to test planning activities, including developing documentation and estimating testing needs.
  • Participate in Sprint Planning with the Product Owner and development team to ensure business requirements are understood fully.
  • Develop an understanding of the requirements, including how users interact with the product and how changes to the UI might impact users’ workflow.
  • Participate in test case walk-throughs, inspection, and peer review.
  • Work independently and/or on a small team to complete software projects and tasks.
  • Troubleshoot software problems and escalate issues, as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, project team members, and the customer.
  • Meet project plan timelines while producing high quality products.
  • Take individual initiative and responsibility for task execution.
  • Adapt to changing priorities.
  • Learn and apply new tools and technologies.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.

What you need to have

  • Clearance: Able to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years of experience testing web applications and performing regression testing.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with Software Quality Assurance concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience writing complex SQL queries.
  • Experience with back-end testing, database testing, and test harness creation. Automated testing experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with an Agile framework, like Scrum.
